Candice Irwin
Festival Director

Candice Irwin is an emerging artist working in dance, film, and performance art who has a passion for arts education and administration. Originally from Victoria, B.C., she moved to Toronto to study dance at York University. Since graduating, she has founded two initiatives for creating and sharing work: Body Stories and us arts collective. Serving the dance community, Candice is an Artistic Director of the rehearsal and performance space Hub14. She has a passion for travelling, has two fantastic felines, and adores popcorn. Your Dance Fest is her newest project and she is excited to share it with you all!

Julie Grant
RAD Co-Artistic Director

Julie Grant (CADA-ON) is a Toronto based dancer, choreographer and is Co-Artistic Director of random acts of dance. In 2009 she graduated from York University’s BFA- Honours dance program.  Julie has worked with many choreographers such as Trisha Armstrong, Caitlin Brown, Brittany Duggan, Colleen Freidman, Danny Grossman, Kate Hilliard, Gabby Kamino, Meagan O’Shea, Julia Sasso and Liisa Smith. Julie had the opportunity to work with Montreal based company Carre de Lombes danse while attending the workshop Springboard Danse Montreal 2008. Her works, Biome, Tempered, and Kite Walk were performed to critical acclaim in 2010 and 2015 Fringe Festivals.​

Liisa Smith
RAD Co-Artistic Director

Saskatchewan-born Liisa Smith (CADA-ON) is a Toronto-based performer, choreographer, and teacher. Liisa received an Honours BFA in Dance from York University and founded random acts of dance. After living in Pakistan and Switzerland during her high school years, she continues to travel abroad, teaching with the International Schools Theatre Association. Interest in spontaneous composition and fusing dance forms, has led to Liisa's diverse physicality in her creative and pedagogical pursuits. Her choreography is expressive and emotive while still physical and engaging. When she’s not working, Liisa loves to drink tea and play board games.

Patricia Allison
Artist Team

Patricia Allison is a Toronto based Dancer and Choreographer who specializes in working with non-dancers. Patricia currently teaches a drop-in class at Academy of Lions on Ossington called Tight Moves and freelance teaches around the city. Patricia is passionate about movement and loves getting people up and dancing. Fun is mandatory in everything she does. Patricia thrilled to be gearing up to continue her studies in all things- movement by starting her MFA in Dance at York University in September 2017. 

Aria Evans
Artist Team

Aria Evans is an multidisciplinary artist working in film, dance creation and performance. Since completing her BFA in 2012 Aria is co-Artistic Director of hub14 and Artistic Director of The Go To Company. She has performed in works by Penny Chouchie, Julia Sasso, Peggy Baker, Sandra Laronde and Jock Soto, Michael Greyeyes, Susan Lee, Constance Cooke and Expect Theatre. She has presented her own choreographic work with SummerWorks - Dance Series, The Toronto Fringe, the University of Toronto Scarborough, FRESH BLOOD, the Gardiner Museum, the Harbourfront Centre’s Next Step Series, Series 808 and Dance Ontario, Long Winter, Labspace Studio and many more. ​​​​


Jamee Valin
Artist Team

Jamee Valin currently works as a solo dance artist, choreographer, educator, performer and producer. Jamee trained at York University and George Brown College for Dance Performance Studies and Fine Arts Cultural Studies. She has performed and choreographed for a variety of dance festivals including: Toronto Fringe, Dance: Made in Canada, Your Dance Fest, New Blue Festival, Dusk Dances at Dancing on the Edge, ROMP! Festival of Dance, and Fresh Blood. Jamee’s work has a distinct physicality, which explores technical form and whole body expressions. Miss Valin is a co-producer for To.Be.Announced in Vancouver, BC and Artistic Director of Valence Movement (dance theatre), which runs small scale dance events.
